My Big Kid & A New Season

The big news this week around here is that my older son has finally made the big switcheroo to big kid underwear. We have tried before, many times before, but he just wasn't ready. Then this weekend he woke up in the morning with a dry diaper for the first time in his 3 1/2 years of life. I told Eric, "we're just going for it!" So we let him pick out his new underwear and we put him in it Monday morning without looking back. Okay, I totally looked back… it was really hard the first day. But I did not give in and we persevered. Sometime around Tuesday afternoon, it finally clicked. Here we are Wednesday afternoon and we still haven't had an accident. I am just crossing my fingers it "sticks." I am so, SO proud of him. And he looks so darn cute in his super hero undies. I posted a picture on my personal Facebook, but I will spare him public internet humiliation. You'll just have to take my word for it – so, SO, cute!!

Well, Matthew turned 8 weeks old on Monday, and although I had planned on taking a full 12 weeks of maternity leave, I am really itching to get shooting again already. I'm cheating a little bit – I scheduled a few things for March. But, I am also enjoying the slow days with my not-so-newborn. He is chunking up – his thighs have so many creases and rolls, it makes me giggle at every diaper change. I wish he would stay 2 months old for a couple of months – it is such a sweet age. He is just starting to smile at us and it melts my heart.

Matthew 8 weeks

It cracks me up how Micah feels the need to surround Matthew with toys at all times, especially his favorite ones. So sweet!

2013 is going to be a great year – I can just feel it. I have a solid plan for my business. I'm out of weddings – I want to focus on photographing babies first and foremost. I've changed the way I work with my clients and the way I deliver images. I'm moving more towards working one on one with my clients, like a partnership, to give them more choices and to produce art that they LOVE. And I'm including digital files with every session, because let's face it, in this age, that is what we all want! I'm encouraging my clients to PRINT, but creatively: to do more with their photos.

I spent this past week shopping like crazy for new props and backdrops. I have been all over Etsy. I've been painting and crocheting. I'm gearing up for a beautiful year of images and I can't wait to get started!
