Last week, Ahndea (Heirbloom) calls me up and says, “Kim, are you sitting by a computer?” You know it’s going to be an interesting conversation when it starts like this, right? Her sister, Alanna, redid her kitchen and submitted the before and after photos to her favorite blog, Design Sponge. A few weeks later, they contacted her and asked her if they could feature her remodel on the blog. What an amazing opportunity! Ahndea asked me if I could photograph the kitchen and Alanna’s family for the feature. Family pictures and detail shots? Sign me up!
So a few days later, I drove to Hampshire, IL to meet Alanna and her super cute family. When I walked in the door, I was shocked. All I could say was, “no wonder they wanted to feature your kitchen!” It’s pretty, it’s stylish, and even in the dead of winter, sunlight pours in and dances around the white decor like a sunny afternoon in summer.
We played a little UNO, laughed in front of her gorgeous barn wood wall (that I seriously want to recreate in my studio, I love it so much) and had breakfast on the island. Okay, it was all staged for the photo shoot, but it looks like so much fun right? It really was. I loved her son’s excitement about getting to sit on the counter. This is how family pictures should be: full of smiles and laughter, surprises and memories. They should be an answer to the question: what do you love? For this beautiful family? Togetherness… playing games… and hanging out in heart of the home together.
After I got all the detail shots I needed of the kitchen, we wrapped up the shoot with some head shots of Alanna. Girl worked it. Scroll down and check it out. Then head over to Design Sponge to see more shots of the kitchen and details about the transformation. You have to see the before and after shots.
