Our Family Portraits {Personal Share}

This was a collaborative project months in the making. I did Heather’s family/maternity photos a few months ago, and we scheduled mine for about a month after when we thought her babies would arrive. This was a collaborative project months in the making. I did Heather’s family/maternity photos a few months ago, and we scheduled mine for about a month after when we thought her babies would arrive. She picked the location, I picked the clothes, we both picked the poses and she obviously did all the shooting, and then finally I edited them. (Now that the twins are here, we just decided I would do the editing since Heather has her hands full 24/7! Even though I know she won’t be able to resist putting her own spin on her favorites.) I think Heather and I work so well together – both of our sessions were so much fun and both happen to be two of my favorite shoots ever. Biased? Maybe… :)

I LOVE THESE!! And now I feel like I have gotten a new perspective on what things are like for my clients – being on the other side of the camera – and the excitement of seeing the results. I have already ordered a book and I can’t wait to get it!

I did this session in late August – a little late to blog them – but maybe now that temps are cooling, you’ll enjoy seeing something a little summery!

I wish I lived a little closer to Beckman Mill. It is such a great setting for family pictures! It’s a historical setting with unique buildings, water, bridges, a dam, lots of trees, etc. Terri had mentioned in an email when we first starting talking about her family pictures that she wanted a location with [...]

It’s a historical setting with unique buildings, water, bridges, a dam, lots of trees, etc. Terri had mentioned in an email when we first starting talking about her family pictures that she wanted a location with a bridge or something similar, and instantly I thought of Beckman Mill. It’s gorgeous! But not as gorgeous as her family, of course. :)

I call this one (below) “the end of the session.” :)

Macktown served as the perfect location for this family session. We ended up having some pretty gorgeous weather, too. When we were on the river’s edge, the sun was setting through a thin spread of clouds, which created the most beautiful warm light!

Staci contacted me a few months ago about taking her family pictures in the fall. I was super honored that she picked me to be her photographer since she is a photographer herself! We did the session at her family’s old farm where she spent a lot of time as a child. I love doing sessions at sentimental places for clients – even if we don’t showcase the location itself, just knowing the photos were taken there means a lot to the family and it creates memories.

When Heather first contacted me about photographing her triplets, I was so excited just for the fact that they were triplets. But when I arrived to the shoot and saw how CUTE they were, well, I was over the moon. The two boys are identical… good luck telling them apart!

Love & Laughter {Rockford, IL Family Photographer}

August 25th, 2011

I couldn’t think of a better title to sum up Anne & her family’s session this past weekend. She & Adam clearly get so much joy out spending time with their sweet little daughter. That little girl was seriously making me laugh the entire session – what a personality!

The Gauthier Family – County Fair Fun {Rockford, IL – Pecatonica, IL Family Photographer}

August 19th, 2011

Faith and I have been talking about doing her family pictures for a while, and I’m so glad we finally did. She went for my idea of doing them at the County Fair this week, and I’m thrilled she did, because they turned out so FUN!

The Cutler Family – Expecting #3 {Rockford, IL Maternity & Family Photographer}

This week I got to photograph Traci and her beautiful family. What a gorgeous pregnant mama, she is! Her cute little guys will soon be welcoming a baby sister. They were so funny during the session: the eldest exclaiming “I want to wiggle!” (I’ve never met a little boy who didn’t.) Traci was just taking [...]

This week I got to photograph Traci and her beautiful family. What a gorgeous pregnant mama, she is! Her cute little guys will soon be welcoming a baby sister. They were so funny during the session: the eldest exclaiming “I want to wiggle!” (I’ve never met a little boy who didn’t.) Traci was just taking everything in stride and smiling despite the swarm of mosquitoes. This baby girl is so blessed to be joining such a good family!
