A Week Before He Arrived… | Rockford, IL Maternity Photographer

In the hustle and bustle of trying to get ready for Matthew to arrive, I never got around to sharing my own maternity session. At one point I had big plans to take a photo every week, but morning sickness, fatigue, a 3-year-old and a busy schedule threw that plan out the window! A lot of those weekly pictures ended up being iPhone snapshots, but I am happy to have those. I am a big fan of Instagram! I also wanted some family pictures and maternity portraits at the end of my pregnancy. I am really glad I did not procrastinate doing those – Matthew was born only one week later!

Here I am at 25 weeks. I really love this dress. It’s not a maternity dress, but it has such a full, long skirt that it fit beautifully. I found it on the clearance rack at Maurices over a year ago!

25-weeks

At 32 weeks Matthew was starting to feel pretty heavy. This was one of my favorite outfits this past summer and I wore it with leggings around the house once it got cold. I love Old Navy maternity clothes!

32-weeks

Here I am at 36 weeks. My wonderful husband took these for me, except for the family photo, which was taken with the self timer. I have a remote shutter release, but I didn’t feel like digging it out of storage, so I ran back and forth between the camera and the bed instead. Why I did that at 8 1/2 months pregnant, I have no idea!

Workin’ the Bump

If you book a session with me this summer or fall, you’ll notice I’m rockin’ a little extra something around the middle… a bump! I’m nearing the end of my first trimester, and this week I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat on the doppler. It’s truly music to an expectant mama’s ears. Sometimes I am still surprised that we are having another little one. In fact, I think it finally sunk in this week. We waited two very long years for this little blessing! I feel like January 3rd is an eternity away, but I know it will probably go by quickly… I cannot wait to take a million newborn photos of this little girl or boy. We are going to wait until the baby is born to find out the gender, so I’ll probably be stocking up on extra props for both so I can be prepared. This, of course, is driving my family and friends crazy because they are dying to know what we’ll be having.

People are always asking me, who is this Heather you are always talking about? Is she extremely good looking? Is she super talented? Is she really pregnant with twins? The answer to all of these questions is “yes.” If I bring a photographer with me to a wedding or a newborn session, is is Heather 90% of the time (except for the next few months, as she is expecting twins in October!). If I am drinking a McDonald’s caramel frappe, Heather is probably with me, drinking one too (and we’re probably in Walmart). Our toddlers are BFFs. You can bet your snickers I will be at her house multiple days a week holding these cute baby boys she is about to have. I am so excited! I was pretty excited to take her maternity/family photos last night. I love taking everyone’s photos, but this is HEATHER!
